Kickstart Alert: Reaper Miniatures Bones II

Welcome to Kickstart Alert, our ongoing series showcasing crowd funded hobby and gaming projects that are of interest and you may have missed. Today we showcase Reaper Miniatures Bones II Kickstarter Project.

If you are already a backer of the very successful Reaper Miniatures Bones Kickstarter, then you should already be aware about their new Bones II Kickstarter that went live today.

This Kickstarter seems poised to achieve similar heights as the original, if not topple it. At the time of this writing they have already fully funded the project, with 7797 backers, and $852264. And it's not even been twelve hours yet.

So far this looks like a more stream lined and efficient project, based on Reaper's previous experience, and huge amount of feedback from their 17K + backers from the first kickstart. With a simpler pledge level system, Reaper has done away with all the option levels in favour of two basic options.

Kickstart Alert: The Warboard

In this series we focus our attention on Crowd Sourced gaming projects. There are many such projects out there. Many of which get a lot of attention, and many others which don’t get the attention they deserve. There are innovators, copy cats, massive successes, and massive fizzles that deserve to be successes. Hopefully this series will help you choose which start ups and powerhouses deserve your attention, and help those brave and brilliant up and comers get the just success they deserve.

For a while I've been watching the new projects popping up and it seems that most gaming/hobby projects out there lately have been lacking in originality. They seem to be retreads of other companies designs, or add ons to existing designs. As such, few have been super exciting to me - though there are enough that have made me back, or want to back.

Kickstart Alert: Road/Kill Ultimate Car Combat

Welcome to the first of our ongoing Kickstart Alert series where we focus our attention on Crowd Sourced gaming projects.

There are many Crowd Funded projects out there. Many of which get a lot of attention, and many others which don’t get the attention they deserve. There are innovators, copy cats, massive successes, and massive fizzles that deserve to be successes. There are as many positive responses as there are negative, and as many different opinions on how Kickstarter and other such funding sites should/do work. But we are not here to discuss all that. Hopefully we will help you choose which start ups or powerhouses deserve your attention, and help those brave and brilliant up and comers get the just success they deserve.

Road/Kill: Ultimate Car Combat Game
Today we look at Road/Kill: Ultimate Car Combat.

This was originally a Kickstarter that was launched earlier this year, just before the summer. They were well on their way to achieving their early goals, but after a lot of positive support from the community, and some very good feedback, they ended their Kickstarter early so they could revamp the product, and bring it to a more fully fleshed game.

After a hectic summer of tweaks and community outreach by the owner, it is now back up on Kickstarter after being more thoroughly fleshed out, reviewed by industry experts and critics, revised, scrubbed and polished.

Out Of The Box: Ork Flier Kitbash Donors

"Out of the Box" is a new feature focusing on out of the box thinking when it comes to hobbying. It looks at different ways to do things, like converting models, or using other non-standard items as part of your games.

In this Out of the Box video, we look at several model kits of fighter jets which can be used as conversion donors to build your own kit bashed Ork Fighter, for Warhammer 40K. Each of these models were purchased for less than $30 from my local hobby store.

To purchase similar model kits, do a quick internet search to find purchasing options online, or local to you.

Quick Tip - Get the Most Out of Your Plastic Sprues

Welcome to the Quick Tip series. Each article is a quick hit showing a quick tip to help improve your hobby skills, organisation, modelling, etc. In the first of this series, we look at one way to have less impact to your environment by reusing the plastic sprues that come with your Games Workshop models.

So, you have just finished building a kit for your Warhammer or Warhammer 40K army. You've clipped off all the extra bits and sorted and stored them away in your little bits organizer, or just dumped them into a bits box to rummage through when the need for inspiration strikes. But what do you do with all the extra sprue plastic?

Robotech RPG Tactics Kickstart and Battlepod Miniature Sneak Peak

If you haven't been living under a rock like I have, and even if you have, you probably have heard about the Robotech RPG Tactics game and Kickstarter being done by Palladium Books. This game is designed to be both a stand alone miniatures based battle game, but can also be used as a supplement to their Robotech RPG game.

Well, the Kickstarter is winding down and now in its last 24 hours, and if you haven't heard about it and it's piqued your curiosity, you should definitely check it out and perhaps even pledge for some cool awards. Even if you are not a miniatures wargamer, there are plenty of different pledge levels that could appeal, ranging from art prints, and kickstart only models. If you are a Robotech/Macross collector or modeller, then there are plenty of things here to suit you as well.

Miniatures and game design is being done by Ninja Division, a subdivision of Soda Pop Miniatures, and looks extremely well.

Here's a sneak peak of a Zentraedi battle pod model which I picked up at Adepticon 2013.
